Tacoma, WA (December 1, 2021) – According to a report by the Tacoma Police, Tacoma has seen an increase in fires throughout the city during the last several months of this year.
Tacoma PD has reported an alarming 82% increase in the number of arson offenses over the past year.
According to Alex Wilsie- assistant fire chief for the Tacoma Fire Department- while the reasons people set fires may vary, they often start these fires in repeat locations. For instance, many people like starting fires in sheds, detached garages, vacant buildings, and encampments.
If you do see someone lighting a fire, our advice is not to directly engage with them but to call the Tacoma Police Department, who will handle the situation.
