Cowlitz County, WA (January 14, 2022)- On Thursday night, a 65-year-old driver injured a 2-year-old boy in Cowlitz County on State Route 4 near 48th Avenue.
The boy was later rushed to the hospital for treatment, although his injuries are unknown.
A westbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado struck the boy as he stepped into a lane of SR 4, Washington State Patrol said.
Troopers identified the driver as Lawrence Sanderson.
Sanderson was later charged with vehicular assault.
WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved as the investigation continued into the cause of the crash.
