Tacoma, WA (January 4, 2022)- Washington State Patrol troopers are looking into the cause of a multiple-vehicle crash in Tacoma on Tuesday morning.
The crash which involved about 12 vehicles occurred on the ramp from State Route 7 to northbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma.
Ice or speeding could have caused the accident, WSP said.
No serious injuries were reported in the collision but one person was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Trooper Robert Reyer said.
The collision occurred when multiple vehicles struck each other, a patrol car, and barriers while a trooper attended to the driver of a Toyota Prius which was stuck in a ditch in that area around 2:45 a.m.
The ramp to northbound I-5 was closed for several hours as a result of the crash and was later reopened around 7:30 a.m.
