Fife, WA (July 30, 2022) – A sleepy driver struck a trailer carrying a boat in Fife, Pierce County, on Saturday, sending the boat into a ditch, Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer said.
The incident took place on northbound Interstate 5 at 70th Avenue E in Fife.
Reyer said troopers, Washington State Department of Transportation officials, and tow trucks were at the scene for a recovery operation.
Although two right lanes were initially blocked following the collision, only the right lane was later closed in order to move the boat onto a semi-trailer, Reyer said in an update.
All the affected lanes had since been back open.
