Kent, WA (December 30, 2021)- On Thursday, an SUV crashed into a tanker carrying sulfuric acid on I-90 near Cle Elum.
The accident shut down Snoqualmie Pass in both directions.
Nobody was injured in the crash, and no sulphuric acid was leaking from the tanker at the time of the accident, Washington State Patrol said.
Trooper John Bryant said a tow was on the scene, and a cautionary isolation distance was put in place.
The SUV was removed from beneath the tanker by deflating its front tires after it nearly hit the tanker’s drain valve, the Washington Department of Transportation said.
The road was reopened around 7 p.m.
