Monroe, WA (November 18, 2021) –Two people have lost their lives in a fatal vehicle accident in Monroe on Thursday afternoon.
The collision involved a double dump truck and an SUV, the Washington State Patrol trooper Rocky Oliphant said.
The SUV was going westbound on Highway 2 when it crossed the center line and had a head-on collision with the double dump truck.
The two people in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver was rushed to hospital with no life-threatening injuries, the WSP said.
The crash led to the closure of Fern Bluff and Highway 2 in Sultan and Old Owen and Highway 2 in Monroe.
The closure is expected to last several hours as troopers investigate the cause of the crash.
