Ferndale, WA (January 18, 2022)- A two-vehicle crash in Ferndale left one person dead on Tuesday.
The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m.
and involved a tanker truck and a passenger car at the intersection of Slater Road and Ferndale Road.
The tanker t-boned the car, a red 2005 Chevrolet Aveo, on the passenger side after the vehicle failed to stop at a sign.
An 81-year-old Bellingham woman was the only person in the Chevrolet when the incident occurred. She was declared dead at the scene and was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
The tanker driver sustained no injuries.
The crash led to the closure of some portions of the affected roads for hours.
The roads were reopened at about 3 p.m.
