The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. Friday on Interstate 5 near South 38th Street in Tacoma.
Two semi-trucks and five cars were involved in the collision, which blocked all lanes of northbound I-5 in Tacoma, Washington State Patrol trooper Robert Reyer said.
The Washington State Department of Transportation advised drivers to detour via 132 SR 16/South 38th Street exit as all the northbound lanes would be closed for several hours.
