Ritzville, WA (March 8, 2022)- A driver crashed into an overhead sign on Interstate 5 in Lakewood overnight, causing the sign to collapse.
The crash occurred near Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest.
One person was being evaluated for injuries, West Pierce Fire and Rescue said.
The crash shut down I-5 southbound lanes.
Traffic was diverted to Bridgeport Way as crews worked to remove the structure.
The lanes were later reopened.
The driver was cited for reckless driving, troopers said.
