Driver Killed, Another Injured In Highway 12 Collision

Walla-Walla, WA (March 9, 2022)-  A driver died while another was injured in a head-on collision that occurred on Highway 12 near Smith Road, some 2 miles east of Walla Walla on Tuesday night.

30-year-old Adrian Torres, of Walla Walla, died at the scene, Washington State Patrol said.

Matthew Richerzhagen, 49, of Waitsburg, was rushed to Providence St. Mary Medical Center after sustaining injuries from the crash. 

Torres was driving west in his 2004 Nissan 350Z around 9:12 p.m. on Tuesday when he crossed the centerline and collided with Richerzhagen’s vehicle, a 2015 Subaru Outback.

Torres was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, WSP said.
