Grays Harbor, WA (December 17, 2021)- An 8-year-old girl has died in what appears to be a DUI crash involving a car and a semi-truck on State Route 12 in Grays Harbor County Thursday night.
The girl was inside a 2002 Mazda Protege westbound on SR 12 at Pearson Rd. near Oakville when the accident happened.
Washington State Patrol said that a 31-year-old woman was driving the car when it crossed the center line and struck a semi-truck.
The two vehicles came to a rest on the eastbound shoulder of SR 12. The Mazda flipped over and stopped “in a deep ditch full of water,” WSP said.
The 8-year-old died on the scene while the Mazda driver was rushed to Harborview Medical Center and taken into custody.
Her condition is unknown, but DUI charges against her are pending.
The semi-driver was transported to St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, and his condition is also unknown.
