Impaired Driver Injures Port Orchard Woman

Shelton, WA (December 8, 2021)- An impaired driver injured a Port Orchard woman in Shelton on Tuesday.

The accident happened at about 5:13 p.m. when the driver struck the woman near the intersection of State Route 102 and Highway 101 near Sanderson Field, the Washington State Patrol said.

The 32-year-old Shelton man rear-ended the 25-year-old woman’s vehicle.

The woman was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton with injuries while the man was not injured.

The accident is still being investigated, and the Shelton man faces a charge for driving under the influence. 

The man was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.

The man’s 1999 GMC Sonoma pickup truck did not suffer significant damage, but the woman’s 2011 Chevy Impala was totaled as a result of the collision.

Both drivers wore their seat belts when the crash occurred.
