One Injured In West Plains Crash

Medical Lake, WA (February 8, 2022)- One person was injured following a two-vehicle collision on the West Plains on Interstate 90 on Monday afternoon.

74-year-old Duane Burstad of Deer Park was injured in the crash involving his 1998 Dodge Ram Pickup and a semi-truck.

Burstad crossed the center median as he headed east on I-90 at about 4:30 p.m. and continued into the westbound lanes of traffic before colliding with an oncoming semi-truck, Washington State Patrol said.

The truck tipped over and landed on the side in a ditch while the driver, 23-year-old Jack Weidenbach of Ellensburg, was released on scene.

Burstad’s pickup then landed in the center median.

Burstad was thereafter rushed to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center after sustaining injuries from the crash.

WSP said Burstad was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash as the investigation continued.
