Pickup Driver Dies In Fatal Tacoma Crash

North Bend, WA (October 27, 2021) – An unidentified pickup driver has died in Tacoma on the southbound lanes near the main gate of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The pickup truck was traveling southbound in the left lane when it crossed all lanes to the right and struck the semi’s trailer. The semi was stopped on the right shoulder, Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer said.

The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident involved three vehicles–a pickup truck, a semi and another vehicle.

The pickup collided with a third involved vehicle after it had struck the left rear of the semi’s trailer but none of the other involved drivers sustained injuries, Reyer said.

The pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene. This will increase the time of the lane closure for investigation.

The two right lanes had been blocked and delays were expected.

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes.

The accident was terrible and the pickup truck was totally unrecognizable, an eyewitness said.
