Man Killed By Amtrak Train In Pierce County Identified

Pierce County, WA (January 6, 2022)- Wednesday, the Pierce County medical examiner identified Eric L. Johnson, 40, of Tacoma, as the victim of an Amtrak passenger train in Lakewood on New Year Day.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said that Johnson died from multiple blunt force injuries after being hit by the train. 

The train was heading from Los Angeles to Tacoma when the incident happened.

Johnson died at the scene, but no one on board was injured. 

Johnson was trespassing when he was hit by the train, Amtrak said in a statement released on Tuesday.
