Truck Driver Dies In Spanaway Crash

Spanaway, WA (February 4, 2022)- A truck driver died near Spanaway on Friday morning after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a pole, the Washington State Patrol said.

The driver, a 32-year-old Gregory Hicks of Yelm, lost his life as he headed south on State Route 507.

Hicks was driving a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck when the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. The truck stopped in a ditch, and the pole fell on SR 507 near 8th Avenue South.

Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene, but the cause of the accident remains unknown.

The crash blocked SR 507 for more than four hours.
