Eastbound I-90 Reopens After Vehicle Fire On Mercer Island

Spokane, WA (May 31, 2022) – Traffic resumed on eastbound Interstate 90 near 77th Avenue on Mercer Island after a vehicle fire Wednesday, the Washington State Department of Transportation said.

At least one car caught fire following multiple car collisions underneath the 77th Avenue bridge.

The collision blocked all the eastbound lanes of the highway.

Washington State Patrol was on the scene and diverted traffic onto 76th Avenue until the wreckage was cleared, officials said. 

The road was later reopened around 2:48 p.m.
