Troopers Investigate Mount Vernon Hit, And Run That Killed Pedestrian

Mount Vernon, WA (March 29, 2022)- Troopers are investigating a hit and run that killed a pedestrian near Mount Vernon late Tuesday night, Washington State Patrol trooper Jacob Kenneth said.

The fatal crash occurred on State Route 9 near Cooma Place and left one person dead while the driver fled the scene.

No details about the fleeing driver nor their vehicle have been released.

SR 9 was entirely blocked in both directions at milepost 47 during the investigation, and there was no detour in place.

Washington State Department of Transportation was on scene to assist with traffic control.

The road was later opened as the investigation continued, Kenneth said.
